Therapeutic Approach Beyond using multiple theories to meet individual needs, I operate from a developmental, attachment perspective: I believe that human beings have the capacity to grow and develop their innate human potential, to increase the joy in living.
Areas of practice include trauma and abuse, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, and building resiliency.
Children
Play therapy helps to communicate what a child is sometimes unable to verbally express. I have more than a decade's experience working with children living with trauma, anxiety and aggression. I also work with neurodivergent children and youth. I understand and hold a deep respect for a child's inner world.
I practice play therapy with children and adolescents from a developmental perspective, understanding where conflict may lie and how it may be resolved.
Adults
Life doesn't always turn out how we want it to. Though we often can't change our circumstances, we can change ourselves. I work with adults to help them get unstuck from depression, grief and loss, frustration, anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, and unhealthy relational patterns.
If healthy psychological functioning builds capacity to adapt to hard situations, why stay stuck? Develop healthier ways of coping with life. You're more resilient than you think.
Couples & Families
Why is it that the people we are the closest to can cause us the most pain? Couples and family counselling can be helpful in understanding unhealthy patterns that negatively affect your partnership and / or the relationships within your family. Here, every voice is heard and valued.
I am also available for parenting consultations: I can translate confusing childhood behaviours. Remember that "patience is not the absence of frustration, but rather a response to it", Dr. Gordon Neufeld.
